Ten countries will compete in the ninth Women’s T20 World Cup, which will start in the United Arab Emirates on October 3.
ICC moved the tournament to the United Arab Emirates
Bangladesh was initially scheduled to host the main event. However, ICC moved the tournament to the United Arab Emirates due to the political climate in the nation.
The 23 matches that will be played till October 20 will now be held in Dubai and Sharjah.
Only fifteen women’s Twenty20 international cricket matches have ever taken place in Dubai International Cricket Stadium and Sharjah Cricket Stadium, the sites of the upcoming matches.
There has never been a W-T20I match played here between Australia, England, or India;
Pakistan has the most matches played (10).
The other teams involved, three from South Africa, four from New Zealand, and three from Sri Lanka, have all played in similar conditions previously. However, the aforementioned teams are limited to Sharjah.
Dubai International Cricket Stadium
The top-ranked women’s teams will be playing in Dubai for the first time. The stadium will host 12 matches in all,
including the highly anticipated India vs. Pakistan encounter as well as the first semifinal and final.
Dubai Typically Sees a lot of Dew
Nine of the twelve games will take place in bright lighting. During the night games, Dubai typically sees a lot of dew, particularly in the second innings.
Only 14 of the 81 T20 matches played here at night since 2020 have seen a side choose to bat first;
in those matches, they have won six, lost seven, and one resulted in a tie,
indicating a significant advantage for the chasing team.
While India will play Pakistan during the day,
its matches against New Zealand and Sri Lanka at this venue will be held at night.
