Jahandad Khan Debut: Pakistan made two changes to their starting lineup after losing the series:
Jahandad received his first international cap, and Haseebullah took the place of captain Muhammad Rizwan.
In addition to being a potent left-hand hitter, Jahandad, 21, is an all-rounder who bowls mostly with left-arm pace.
He played 19 Twenty20 matches before to his debut, scoring 154 runs at 17.11 and taking 18 wickets at an average of 29.50.
It’s important to remember, too, that those runs were made at a strike rate of 187.80.
While playing for the Lahore Qalandars against the Quetta Gladiators in the 2024 Pakistan Super League,
he achieved his top batting score of 45 not out.
Jahandad hit at 264.70 after his team reached 103-4 in 13.1 overs at No. 5.
On his way to his fiery knock, he hit three fours and four huge sixes.
His use of force and nearly no footwork to take out the spinners was the high point of that innings.
The Qalandars lost the game despite scoring 187-7, but it did signal
the coming of a possible hard-hitting all-rounder in the middle order that Pakistan has been pining for.
The Pakistan Cricket Board
(PCB) launched three new competitions, including the 2024 Champions One-Day Cup,
where Jahandad made his debut with the ball. He finished as the Stallions’ second-highest wicket-taker (10) behind Mohammad Hasnain (17).
In addition to scoring 221 runs at 15.78, including a top of 51 not out,
he has taken 40 wickets at an average of w24.55 and an economy of 6.06 in 23 innings in the List-A format.
He was named Player of the Match for Pakistan Shaheens in their Top End T20 Series match against Melbourne Renegades Academy one month before the local championship. Jahandad scored 3-19, including 11 dots, in his 3.3 overs. He was called up to Pakistan’s T20I team for their tours of Australia and Zimbabwe as a result of his outstanding white-ball performance.
The Pakistani selectors were impressed by Jahandad’s white-ball skills,
but in his limited six-match career, he has excelled in first-class cricket.
He debuted for Rawalpindi in October 2023 and has since amassed 29 wickets at 23.62, including three four-wicket hauls, with a best record of 7-65.
