Throughout the UAE today, there was a noticeable increase in cloud cover, with light rain falling in many areas of Abu Dhabi. In certain eastern and western regions of the nation, the Met Office has issued yellow and amber alerts for potential rainfall and gloomy conditions.
Light to moderate rainfall were observed across Hamim, Umm Al Oshtan, Al Ruwais, Al Hamra, Sheikha Salama Bint Butti Road, Al Jazeera BG, west of Owtaid, Al Zarraf, and Yaw Al Nadhrah regions in Al Dhafra, according to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM).
Additionally, there were reports of light to heavy rainfall across Sir Baniyas Island and the Abu Dhabi region west of Al Wathba.
The advisory states that mild to high winds may also cause dust and sand to blow, which could limit horizontal visibility.
The NCM states that an upper air low-pressure system trough and an easterly surface low-pressure system are to blame for the current weather.
Watch out for high winds that can gust up to 50 km/h in mountainous areas and up to 45 km/h in interior regions.
Additionally, a warning for drivers in the Al Ain City and Al Dhafra district was released by the Abu Dhabi Media Office. They have requested that citizens drive carefully, follow all safety guidelines, and respect the speed limits. It is also recommended that drivers stay off valley routes within and near the area.
For the weekend, the NCM predicts partly cloudy to cloudy weather nationwide. It is also predicted that the temperature will rise, with humid weather at night and a chance of mist and fog forming in the mornings over some coastal and interior areas from Sunday to Wednesday.
Additionally, the meteorological agency predicts that internal country regions will have temperatures as high as 39 degrees Celsius, with the country’s mountain regions predicted to see the lowest temperatures of 17 degrees Celsius.
