In honour of Israa Wal Miraj, Oman designated January 30 a paid holiday for employees of both the public and commercial sectors. The government of another Gulf country, Kuwait, has likewise decided to shut down all branches and departments on January 30.
The 30th of January through the 1st of February will be a three-day holiday for the people of Oman and Kuwait, including their weekend (Friday and Saturday). The two Gulf nations opted to celebrate Israa Wal Miraaj on Thursday instead of Monday, January 27, so their citizens may enjoy a longer weekend.
United Arab Emirates Will Not Be Observing Israa Wal Miraj Festive
On Al Israaa Wal Miraj, UAE citizens will not observe a vacation as their neighbours do. Before 2018, the event was on the official UAE holiday calendar. But in 2019, the administration chose to take it off the list. The Cabinet also consolidated holidays for the public and private sectors that year.
What Is Israa Wal Miraj?
The night that the Holy Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) procession left Masjid Al Haram in Makkah and arrived at Masjid Al Aqsa in Jerusalem is known as Israa Wal Miraj, or the Prophet’s Ascension.
Israa Wal Miraaj is observed on January 27th this year, which is the 27th night of Rajab 1446 according to the Islamic calendar. Among the Islamic calendar months, Rajab is the seventh.
